Picture Day at Dance
Last Monday we had picture day at the dance studio. Once again our little show stopper turned it on! When they called her name finally, she began to say, "Mommy that's me." She ran up to the backdrop and got right in place and waited to pose. By this time all the others in the room were laughing. And then... They told her where to put her feet and hands and she seemed kind of nervous. But the moment the first flash went off she was ON! She put her hands on her hips and tilted her hips and smiled big. Then the photographer said put your hands up and she started going up down, up, down, with her little hands and putting on the best show possible during it all. By this time the crowd was rolling and she was loving every minute. I snapped a few more of her with my own camera and here they are.

Port Arthur Mardi Gras
On Saturday, February 21st Port Arthur held it's annual mardi gras festival and jim was off! We got to attend this mardi gras as a family. Thanks to mom we were there about 1 hour too early because I thought it started at 5:00 and it didn't start until 6:00. So we were left to entertain a 2 year old for about an hour with nothing really to do. We walked and looked at all the sights and smells. All along the street people were sitting in their lawn chairs and she kept wanting to sit in them too but mom and dad forgot or really didn't even think about bringing chairs. We eventually saw a street vender and Ava saw that he had little japanese looking umbrellas and she said, "I need a brella." But daddy said no you don't and tried to convince her that she didn't need one but good old mom was there to save the day. I had to take Ava's side and tell him this was part of the fun of going to a festival like this. And that she DID need a "brella". When the parade finally did start Ava had a blast. She is such the little bead magnet. People on floats would throw directly to her and wave. She ate it up! We ended up comming home with a large brown bag full of throws and beads. She has enjoyed playing with them and I'm sure will enjoy them untill she gets new beads in a couple of weeks at Godfather Davids.
Hanging Out
Sometimes there are thing that just make you want to grab the camera. Here are a couple from the last few weeks that I thought were worth sharing.
I was cleaning up the closet and Ava saw this and wondered what it was. I showed her how to wear it and a picture of mommy wearing it and she thought she was pretty.
It is a rare find for me to find shoes and to find shoes that match for me and Ava was super cool!
I can see you.
" I have a volcano"
I can see you.

Texas Mardi Gras!
Ava and I went to the local mardi gras festival on the weekend before the real mardi gras. We went to the carnival in the morning and watched the munchkin parade, got her face painted and jumped in the bouncy house. Then we went home and took a nap. In the evening we got up and went to the parade. I tell no lies when I say that we left the house at 5:30 and were back home, after a quick trip to Kroger's, by 6:30. A very small parade but of course the "bead magnet" Ava Dyer racked up! She has learned quickly how to say "Throw me somethin' mister!"
MOMMY'S MAKEUP
I'M PRETTY
Smile big
The other day I was working on the taxes and I realized that it had gotten very quiet. When I finally got up to check what our little princess was up to, I was flattered. She had gotten into my makeup and "made herself pretty" and then she said, "I want to look like Mommy." How can you be upset? So we took a few more minutes and put some purple on her eyes and blush on her cheeks.
Of course, after the fun and games are over we have to wash our face and these are the pictures where we are not so happy.

Grandmother Da'Lin has the coolest stamps.
Grandmother Da'Lin has the coolest stamps.
I got mail!
The other day Grandmother Da'Lin sent mail. She sent the cutest little Valentine pack that included a book and 4 Valentines. (to be put together- more on this later) Ava loved it! She loves getting any kind of mail but some that has her name on it just takes the cake.
We opended the package and read the book. Then we started to look at the valentines and that is when I realized that they had to be put together. OH NO! Before I realized it, we had parts and pieces everywhere and then I had to figure out which parts went with which pieces. To say the least we made the best game out of picking up all of the pices and putting them into nice neat piles.
We did get to put them together on Sunday night before Valentines so I hope they make it there on time.
Love to all,
Jim, Jes, Ava and Maggie
